Produced in the late 1950's and early 1960's by Soviet camera makers KMZ, the Start camera (Старт in Russian) is a 35mm SLR which was produced as a professional alternative to the consumer-marketed Zenit camera. The camera is fully mechanical and does not include a light meter, and has a cloth focal plane shutter. It uses proprietary bayonet style lenses of which few options were produced since the camera was only in production for a short time.
